THEATRE EN VOL
Theatre en vol is to date the most important Sardinian theatre company working in the field of urban theatre, outside venues and other non-conventional theatrical spaces – a unique artistic lab that has gained a solid reputation both nationwide and on the European scene. Founded by Puccio Savioli and Michèle Kramers in 1989, the company has since engaged with a wide and varied audience by presenting performances of high artistic value. Its repertoire is a combination of experimental theatre and the energy of street art at its best. Actors work with machines – sophisticated and original devices designed and realized by Puccio Savioli – and rely on multiple styles and techniques ranging from the actor’s theatre to the use of fireworks, acrobatics, and scene installations, all to a great visual impact. The outcome is a dramatic language that is grotesque, ironic, romantic, absurd and surreal at once, and which encourages the encounter of diverse spectators from different age groups and cultural and social backgrounds.
All productions are the result of a long process of research into various European traditions as well as experimentation into new forms of artistic expression through the use and combination of different styles and languages. For this reason, public performances can be adapted to different contexts such as, for instance, country fairs, avant-garde and street art theatre festivals, and yet retain their artistic spontaneity while also appealing to wider audiences.
In addition to repertoire performances and to the productions presented in this program Theatre en vol is constantly seeking cooperation with new partners to realize site-specific projects and cultural events.
